PROD Biography

Born, Blah Blah, Went to school, Yadda Yadda, Learnt Clarinet and Sax, Yawn, Played in some bands, Didn’t we all, went to college, and so on and so ..ped out, horray, went back, boo, learnt how to push faders and turn knobs, dropped of the map for a while, almost essential, went to uni and bought a computer, heard it all before, hibernated, skipped lectures wrote tunes, (see above) disappeared/reappeared (repeat as necessary)… see present.

July 2008 finally saw the release of Prod’s debut album, ‘The Artworks Formerly Known As Prints’! It’s an incredible debut from this outrageously inventive artist. Devoid of the usual traits and schematic formulas of today’s, post-literate pop formulas, Prod dares to challenge the unknown, creating a raw, edgy but freakishly smooth blend of hybridized musical conventions. He takes the musical ethos of his past, and distorts it for the present, putting together an album of astounding jazz-soaked, glitched out neo-soul beats, all tightly wound and interlinked within in his salad day influences of old school jungle, techno and electronica.

‘deeply eccentric and wonderful producer’ (Mary Anne Hobbs – Radio 1)
